A massive leak of personal pictures originating from Snapchat – a photo and video sharing app – has generated lots of traffic for an unsuspected web site.
More than 100,000 photos were leaked, collectively referred to as “the Snappening“, in the same manner that a previous celebrity photo leak was dubbed “the Fappening.”
In this case, the domain name Snappening.com became the instant destination for numerous hopefuls seeking to take a glimpse of this new leak.
Snappening, however, is an event planning service, and a registered trademark since 2011, “providing online information in the field of special event planning for business and commercial purposes.”
Surely not the type of content that one would expect and a lesson for those that associate everything with a .com.
