#Swaziland was renamed to #eSwatini making dozens of #domains worthless!

The king of Swaziland, a land-locked African former British colony, decided to rename his kingdom to Kingdom of eSwatini.

King Mswati III announced that eSwatini is the new country name, and the one used by Swaziland before it was colonized.

The reason: Swaziland apparently sounded too close to Switzerland.

Such a large scale rebranding also affects dozens of “Swaziland” domain names, that become obsolete, and thus worthless.

That includes, undeveloped and registered in 1999, also undeveloped and registered in 1997, and Swaziland.orgyou guessed it, undeveloped – and registered in 1998.

On the other hand, domains that contain the eSwatini keyword gained value overnight, including, an active web site selling jams and marmalades from Swaziland. was registered in 2009.
