The first ICM Member account setup emails finally arrive

It took longer than the expected 24 hours but the first emails for setting up the required ICM Member account were finally sent out by the ICM Registry.

The email looks like this:

Subject: ICM Member Account Setup

Dear [username]: Thank you for applying for .XXX domain name(s). Once you activate your .XXX Membership Account, you will be able to use your .XXX domain name(s). If you wish to activate your .XXX domain name(s), please click on this LINK to complete your Membership Application. Any information you submit to ICM Registry via the above link will be governed by the ICM Registry Privacy Policy. You will only be required to complete this process once to cover all your .XXX domain names. If you do not wish to activate your .XXX domain names(s), no further action is necessary. Your .XXX domain name(s) will remain yours under your registrar account but you will not be able to make them live or host any content on them until you complete ICM Registry’s Membership Application. If you feel that you have received this email in error please click HERE or contact us at www.icmregistry.com. Sincerely, ICM Registry. Please note that this link will expire 5 days from the time it was sent.

The link takes one to a panel where the date of birth and contact information is required in order to obtain a Member Authorization Token.

Once the info entry is completed, a four digit PIN number is delivered to one’s phone number. We chose the option to call out.

The PIN number completes the sign up process and the Member Authorization Token – an alphanumeric string of 16 characters – is allocated.

Registrars like GoDaddy require this token – GoDaddy calls it “.XXX Membership ID” – to activate .XXX domains in one’s account.

The process took only 5 minutes to complete, including the phonecall.
