British domain auction house DomainLore.co.uk has amended their original announcement, naming and shaming a shill bidder who attempted to pump an auction’s selling price.
The updated announcement reads as follows:
A shill bidder was detected attempting to place a bid (if there are any more of those left, please remember, this auction site will not let anyone pass undetected). Unlike most of those caught, he had a decency to confess and apologise. I believe this is rare these days and has to grant him some of his lost respect back.
It’s obvious that DomainLore.co.uk has reached out to the shill bidder, removing their name and domain from public announcement; the shill bidder’s account still shows up as banned, however.

It’s probably a legal/privacy issue. From what I understand, privacy laws in the UK are somewhat strict.
Still, shill bidders SHOULD be outed. This is why I tend to shy away from “private” and “pre-release” auctions (as opposed to expiring/pending delete auctions).
The marketplace should drive sales prices, not the seller. If a seller wants a certain price, then he/she should set a reserve or BIN.
Anyway, Mr. Fabrice, now that I “get” your 100% logo, I’m enjoying your blog quite a bit.
