The SaveMe.com saga has officially ended, what with Rick Schwartz declaring a full victory against the reverse domain hijacker, Brazilian lawyer Márcio Mello Chaves.

Summary: Márcio Mello Chaves attempts to steal the domain name, SaveMe.com from Rick Schwartz. An initial offer of $10,000 was not even close to Rick’s asking price of “six figures”. The man behind the Brazilian company, SaveMe.com.br makes a final offer of $50,000 that is ignored by Rick. The Brazilian company files a UDRP at the WIPO.Although SaveMe.com was registered in 1996, the Brazilian company that was formed in 2010 claimed that Rick Schwartz should have predicted their use of the domain, 14 years earlier. They also filed for a trademark in 2010 but as of 2012 it is still pending. Brazilian bureaucracy is not helping the case much! |

After the initial shock, Rick Schwartz retaliates, by going public about the SaveMe .com case and tagging Márcio Mello Chaves as a “reverse domain hijacker“. By raising public awareness, Rick builds his support while exposing the Brazilian company for what it is: a domain predator.

On June 16, 2012, Rick Schwartz triumphantly announces that not only was the decision for SaveMe.com in his favor, but the company of Márcio Mello Chaves was deemed a reverse domain hijacker in the process!
