Big news from China: they are now the most populous digital nation in the world.
With more than 1 billion domain registrations for the brand new dot .Beijing gTLD, China now has more domains in the root than all other countries combined, four times over!
“Market special, and free so better .CN because no rule Government, base Hong Kong regulate,” said Xiang Xiong Xing, marketing specialist for Dot Bei Jing Mā, the dot .Beijing domain registry.
“Four bad number but eight lucky, past that make conversion and keep user who want .Beijing address for good luck, only 8 yuan for domain,” added Xiang Xiong Xing, who goes by the westernized name ‘Shawn Zane‘.
By launching dot .Beijing at a time that the US government is busy preparing the relinquishing of Internet stewardship to a yet to be determined entity under ICANN control, the Registry is raking in at least 8 billion yuan during its premiere day.
“America ICANN strong lesson, and United Nations control Internet for free people, China understand capitalism and work along communism end of day!” exclaimed Xiang Xiong Xing, gleaming at today’s domain registration revenue.
Meanwhile, registration numbers for other Chinese gTLDs such as .在线 (“.online”) and .中文网 (“.chinesewebsite”) pale in comparison, a clear indication that dot .Beijing is a winner worth investing in.
