Rick Schwartz’s acquisition of the domain name Cybersquatter.com via Flippa for $3,000 led us to the obvious question: is the term ‘cybersquatter‘ generic or trademarked?
These days, one never knows, and we just had to look the term up at the USPTO.
As it turns out, there is no such trademark, but a related trademark including the term ‘cybersquatter‘ turned up.
Amazingly, the law offices of Clock Tower has registered the phrase:
“Lawyers For Human Beings – Patent trolls, trademark bullies, and cybersquatters need not apply.”
According to the registration, the mark consists of the phrase “Lawyers For Human Beings” in a script typeface over the phrase “Patent trolls, trademark bullies, and cybersquatters need not apply.” in a sans serif typeface, both phrases colored white on a purple curving banner.
The colors purple and white are claimed as a feature of the mark.
The trademark was registered on July 23, 2013 for legal services in the field of intellectual property.
