The domain thief is utilizing fake contact information, and forged email communications during and after the successful attempt; they also claim to have legitimately bought these domains using untraceable Bitcoins.
While passwords to registrar and email accounts can be compromised, some registrars like GoDaddy currently offer the option to enable two-way authentication, that requires the type-in of a numeric code sent via a text message.
