Disney holds Pearl Harbor dot com domain hostage for a decade!

The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor – December 7, 1941.

Today’s date marks the 70th anniversary of the attack against the American fleet stationed in Pearl Harbor by the Japanese.

The day of infamy, December 7th, 1941 marked the official entry of the United States of America in World War II.

That important and historic location in Hawaii returns a hefty 30 million results in Google, however, none of these on page one point to the domain name PearlHarbor.com

In fact, only on page 2 of the results one can discover a Disney URL forward and not the domain itself.

According to Archive.org the domain changed hands from its previous owners at the end of 2000, just in time for the Disney movie by the same name – Pearl Harbor, starring Ben Affleck.

However, the web site’s content hasn’t changed since 2001, as it references the “Pearl Harbor 60th Anniversary Commemorative Edition”. Sorry Disney, that was 10 years ago.

It’s a shame that such a historic domain name hasn’t been updated in a decade and it’s essentially a hostage to Disney’s interests.
