ICM Registry Selects Gordon & Rees as Outside Counsel

Press release by the ICM Registry.

A new press release from the ICM Registry has hit the domaining wire:

ICM Registry has selected Gordon & Rees as its new outside counsel.  ICM is grateful to Ms. Becky Burr, also known as “ICANN’s Godmother,” for her years of legal guidance.  Ms. Burr’s recent move from WilmerHale to Deputy General Counsel at Neustar, Inc. motivated ICM Registry to explore alternate counsel representation.  Upon review of a variety of prominent firms, Mr. Scott Austin, a Partner in Gordon & Rees’s Miami office and well versed in ICANN matters, presented his firm as the perfect fit for ICM’s sophisticated business transaction and litigation needs.

“We are happy to have  such a well-respected national firm with its broad range of expertise located close to our offices,” said Mr. Lawley, ICM Registry’s CEO.

In addition to being a full service firm, Gordon & Rees has built a successful antitrust litigation practice.  Mr. Richard Sybert, a Senior Partner at Gordon & Rees, was recently selected by ICM to lead its antitrust litigation in the Manwin v. ICM matter.  Mr. Sybert’s team will be working in consultation with Mr. Bret Fausett, the chief litigator in the CFIT v. Verisign case and a world-renowned ICANN-policy expert.

“The combination of Mr. Sybert’s extensive antitrust and commercial litigation expertise, Mr. Fausett’s unparalleled understanding of both ICANN policy and the CFIT v. Verisign case and our insurance defense resources positions us well in the Manwin litigation,” said Lawley.
