Great news for the fans of ultra-premium generic domain names!
The UDRP for the domain name, Patient.com has ended with the Respondent keeping the domain, which was registered in 1997.
Filed in March, the UDRP was brought forth by Egton Medical Information Systems Limited of Yeadon, Leeds, United Kingdom, who claimed unregistered trademark rights in Patient.co.uk, where they operate from.
Arguing over the blank page of Patient.com not being a bona fide use of the domain, the Complainant attempted to establish a case when the owners indicated a selling price of $500,000 dollars. Later on, they raised the asking price to $2 million dollars.
The Patient.com owners also own Patient.me and according to the Complainant, this constitutes “cybersquatting.”
A three member panel at the WIPO decided this was not the case and the domain name Patient.com remained with their owners.
