Domain investor, Mike Mann, does not mince his words.
The never-sleeping author of “Make Millions and Make Change“, is known for his sharp and often edgy statements about politics, the economy and other industry companies.
This time around, Mike attempts to describe Rob Monster, CEO of Epik.
In a Facebook post, Mike Mann stated:
“Rob Monster is a nice guy who used to enjoy copying me, competing with me and interfering, while I was trying to help him. He “invested” in sem.com when I tried to buy it after I bought SEO.com. Tried to interfere and buy Skateboards.com when I bought it. Bought wifi.com when I bought wi.fi. Invested in analytics co when I started Yield Software in competition. Started Domain Strategies when I started Domain Market. Worked with idiot thieves who I warned him about in advance. Im assuming he lost everything, my companies that made it are doing fantastic in competition.”
It’s not easy to read this statement, if you’re Rob Monster, that is.
While we’re certain that there’s two sides to a story, it seems that Mike’s statement comes at a point in time that he’s on top of the world: his business is thriving while Epik has been painfully quiet lately.
Let’s hope that those two will get along better, in 2013! 😀

I was checking out the sites on SEM.com and Wifi.com.
SEM.com is a simple lander with no monetization.
Wifi.com at first looks nice, until you realize that the homepage is nothing more then a shell which is built around 3 Google Adsense ads. It is funny that Google let’s this site display advertising when they ban countless other sites for being “thin” sites.
Rob Monster’s response:
“Greetings. Actually I don’t really use Facebook. My family uses it and so I get tagged in photos. If someone sends me a personal note, I try to logon and respond. Other than that I am just not a Facebook user. The best way to reach me is via email — rob@epik.com. As for Epik, the business is growing nicely. We serve more than 57,000 customers — 98+% of which are end-users. We do serve a few major domainers. Our platform is still not everything I want it to be but it is increasingly industrial strength for domain management — including ICANN-accredited registrar, web/email hosting and leasing/selling of domains. We continue to support client efforts in the area of Domain Development though on a more targeted basis. While the Google “free lunch” era is over, the principles of adding value to domains through development or joint venture is still valid. It is simply a lot more labor intensive now than in say 2007-10. Domain Management is more scalable which is why Epik is focused there. Wishing everyone an auspicious start to the New Year.”
My experience with Epik and specifically Rob has been fine. While all of my sites on Epik were clobbered by gargoogle, they looked better than any other landers/sites I have used, Rob honoured his word on every account. He is a stand-up business owner that unfortunately created a huge link-farm. I wish him all the best with his ventures now and in the future. I would also like to thank Mike for his great book!
