Sir Stelios is back : #easyJet sues two Latin American airlines

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou founded easyJet in 1995, at the age of 28.

The Greek-Cypriot billionaire operates an empire of “easy” companies; for his entrepreneurial acumen and philanthropic contribution, he received the knighthood in 2006.

The easyGroup group of companies has filed several UDRP cases against domain names that infringed on the “easy” mark – the company operates from Easy.com.

In a recent development, easyJet filed a lawsuit against two Latin American airlines: Easy Sky and Easyfly, accusing the carriers of “brand theft” due to their adoption of the “easy” mark, and for similar services.

The airlines operate from esky.com and easyfly.com.co respectively.

Easygroup spends a million British Pounds a year, going after such “brand thieves;” the company has succeeded in grounding India’s Easyair and Bangladesh-based cargo business Easyfly-express.

Will easyJet go after their domains via the UDRP process too? That, remains to be seen.
